Diabetic Symptoms To Watch Out For

Diabetes is an illness that afflicts individuals of all ages. There are two strains of Diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 is predominantly hereditary and genetic. Type 2 usually results from an combination of unhealthy lifestyle and environmental factors. While the diabetes is not always avoidable, for the most part it can be staved off for a long time, if not indefinitely. An important step in accomplishing this is to learn how to recognize the major signs of diabetes. Once you know how to identify the major diabetic symptoms, you stand a better chance of controlling it and not letting it affect your life in any major way.

People who are suffering from diabetes get more infections than other people. Being more prone to infection can be a symptom of undiagnosed diabetes because your immune system is not as strong as it could be. The most common infections experienced by diabetics are urinary tract infections and skin conditions that are caused by fungus and bacteria. Your doctor should test for pancreatic function to see if your blood sugar levels are where they need to be, especially if you are experiencing these types of infections.

Are you more easily irritated and don't know why? Issues with your blood sugar levels could be causing the unexplainable irritability. You definitely need to be checked for diabetes if your blood sugar levels are fluctuating. The reason people start becoming more irritable when they start becoming diabetic is because their body is no longer processing food correctly. So, if you can't find an explanation for your mood swings, ask your doctor to test you for diabetes and hypoglycemia.

Most diabetics have issues with their feet at some point. Poor circulation is usually the reason for these problems. Let your doctor know if you start to notice tingling in your hands or feet. It is especially important for diabetics to monitor their hands and feet because of their circulation issues. Your doctor should be informed of any sores on your feet that aren't healing as soon as possible. The doctor should be able to treat this issue in their office in most cases. But it is important not to let sores and tingling go unchecked. Most amputations in diabetes are due to these symptoms being ignored.

Diabetic symptoms will not be the same for any two people. Some people experience no symptoms whatsoever, while others experience all of the common symptoms. The first line of defense a person has against diabetes is understanding how it manifests itself. Recognizing the symptoms of diabetes will make it more likely for you to seek early treatment and gain fast control over this potentially deadly disease.
